Det värkar som Stern har blivit trött på Pinball Sales och deras "hidden agreements" med olika kontakter i EU.

Starting with Family Guy, to discourage non-RoHS compliant games from being shipped into the European Community and to inhibit bootlegging of games, our factory installed firmware has been modified.

This modification allows the games to work under the following conditions:

.North American Games will work on 60Hz line voltage only.

.Export games shipped outside North America will work on 50Hz or 60Hz line voltage.

.Used export games will be able to be shipped back to the United States for home sales.

.The factory installed firmware cannot be modified outside of our factory.

If a North American game is plugged into a 50 cycle line, it will not operate.  The following message will appear on the dot matrix display.

THIS MACHINE WILL NOT OPERATE IN THIS COUNTRY PLEASE CONTACT YOUR DISTRIBUTOR

Vad den kostar framgick dock inte...

Stern har sagt att de kommer att lägga om sin produktion till RoHS på alla spel snart. Men de kommer inte att göra om de gamla (Whitestar) spelen till RoHS. Så LOTR, TSPP och andra vill vi inte få köpa i framtiden. LOTR är ju historia redan pga delar inte produseras längre.

Om Sterns distributører i Europa blir borta, så vill Stern förlora ganska mycket pengar. Och det kan inte gråimporten ersätta. Och då försvinner nog den sista fabriken också. Vi säljer flest spel til opratörer fortfarande, det är inte hemma marknaden som regjerar ennu. Och så är det för de flesta distributörer utanför USA fortfarande.
