What brand of clear do you use?A: I use Dupont 4700 polyurethane. How many coats of clear do you apply?A: I apply six to eight coats of clear. Is that too many coats of clear?A: No, the clear is very flexible and will not crack or shatter. Will The clear fill in cracks in old finishes?A: Yes, but I am working with wood and you might get some shrinking down in the cracks, but not badly. Will it dull down after long use?A: No, but it will still mark, so I take a fine rubbing compound and hand polish it once a month. How do you do the coating?A: I sand the playfield, use wax remover, clear three coats, let dry and sand. Then I apply three more coats, let dry and sand. lastly I apply two more coats, let dry, sand with 1500 grit sandpaper then buff to a gloss finish. How long should I wait to wax the playfield?A: Sixty days. You can use glazes but no wax.Is it worth it to clear coat?A: My opnion is yes. Once it is clear coated you will never wear through it.Do you touch up playfields?A: Yes, this is an extra charge and depends on how bad it is. To fade one color to another is very hard to fix. Solid colors are no problem, it just takes time to match colors. Also some lettering can be reproduced, but at an extra charge. How long does it take?A: Depending on how much work is ahead of yours, but usualy from four to six weeks. How much does it cost?A: $200 plus shipping. Touchups are extra. Why did the price increase? A: I had to raise the price $20 dollars more because of the cost of materials and overhead. I want to thank everyone for sending me their playfields. I also want to thank everyone for their patience, because it does take time to do a good job. Thanks again for the support! How do I now care for and maintain my playfield?A: As you're putting your machine back together, do not set anything on the playfield, as it might leave an impression in the clear. Do not over tighten the post or the clear could be twisted loose. If there is any ball tracking on the playfield after about of month of playing, rub it out with Novus 2, then put a glaze back on it. It takes about 90 days to cure before you can wax it. However, I don't use wax, I use a product in a mist bottle called Mist & Shine. It is made by a company called Wizzards. If you have any problems, feel free to call me at 815-968-9530. Thanks!
