Hi there!

The oldest annual Finnish pinball competition Sörkka Pinball Open will be played on Easter weekend Saturday and Sunday (7.-8.4.) in Helsinki. The registration has opened on the event's web page at address http://www.flibukisat.fi

The venue has changed from last year's location to another one closer to the centrum of Helsinki (about 1km walking distance from the central railway station).

The competition format will be the same as last year and WPPR-points will be given out as usual. It would be nice to see Swedish players attending once again this year!

If you have any questions, contact Antti (spo@flibukisat.fi) or me.

Welcome!

1.1 Summary of rules

Qualifications are played on six machines, three "new" ones (released 1988 or later) and three "old" ones (released 1987 or earlier). A qualification entry consists of one game on all these six machined and a joker, that is a second entry on one machine decided by the player. The joker is taken into account only when it improves the score.

The scores on a machine are compared among all the players. The player with the best score on a machine receives points equal to the number of participants in the tournament and the lowest score receives one point. Player's total qualification score is the sum of these points on all six qualification machines. 16 players with highest qualification scores advance to the play-offs played on Sunday.

In addition to the qualification on Saturday, there will also be a "last chance qualification" period on Sunday morning for the players who are not able to attend the qualification on Saturday. At most 4 players will qualify to play-offs from this last chance qualification process.

The play-offs will be played as a head-to-head 16-player single-elimination bracket best of three games. Players with qualifying positions 5-8 receive one "bye" and players with qualifying positions 1-4 receive two "byes".

Jag kommer nog att hoppa av då jag tyvärr måste finnas på plats på LD för månadstävlingen. Jag tog miste på datum och då jag har gett klartecken till månadstävlingen så blir jag kvar hemma för första gången. trist men sant.

The qualification format has been changed a little: each player will play two attempts (the better one counts) on each six machines and the joker rule has been removed.

I apologize for the late announcement of the change, at least it is a positive one and should make the tournament more appealing to participate?
